Hardest Riddle Ever

When a man goes to work he goes down the elevator all the way, but when he comes home from work ho goes up the elevator halfway and walks up the stairs all the way. WHY??? (This happens everyday) (Don't say I don't know!!!)

Because the elevator only goes half way up because its old and if they are 12 floors (example) there are 6 up wirings but the other 6 broke?

I think that the elevator couldve broken down half way so he had to go up the stairs and at work the elevator goes all the way?
