I have a DS Lite but my sister has a Dsi. The're not that much different from regular dses. Don't get to sad if you don't have one.

Waddle do not worry it is hard first connect your dsi to the dsi shop by putting in your internet connection details like your wep (ssid is a wep) on the settings screen.Then go on the Dsi Shop and go to free anmd get the internet browser thing.Also I reccomend getting Flip note which is free.
P.S. You need to make a club nintendo acount on their website.They give you 1000 free points which you can buy games on their with!
